Volunteer Immersion Experience
IHA offers a short-term volunteer immersion experience for university students accompanied by their mentor. Volunteers will have the opportunity to accompany our health care team on their regularly scheduled visits to the rural and inner city communities. Short-term volunteers should be groups of 4 or more with a supervising mentor. The short-term volunteer experience is available any month except February. Students will have the opportunity to assist, observe, educate, collect data, design and implement future projects in the following areas: Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Optometry, Public Health and Engineering. Students will become an integral part of a closely-knit health care team composed of indigenous health promoters, nurses, physicians, and university preceptors.
